If you want to use one of these keys as a standard function key, hold the Fn key (usually in the lower-left corner of the keyboard) while pressing the function key. For example, pressing Fn-F10 (speaker icon) performs the function assigned to the F10 key instead of toggling mute on or off.
Hello, Is it possible to quickly change the function key default on the XPS 15 laptop? Microsoft conversion pack for mac. Actually, I know you can switch from function keys to multimedia keys by modifying the BIOS settings or by using the 'Windows Mobility Center' but it's not really convenient: when I want to do the switch, I need to first press the shortcut to the mobility center, then change the combo box to either multimedia or function. Is there a way to assign a shortcut for this operation? For example, by using the 'Dell Instant Launch Manager' to run a command line so as to be able to do the switch by a single key press?
MEC, I think we both know that method, what we're (or at least I'm) looking for, is a way to do it faster, without having to go into a menu. I don't have anything else that I feel the need to use the user defined touch button for, and would LOVE to be able to use it to switch the function key behavior without either opening a menu or repeatedly pressing/holding the function key down. I assume someone could write a simple command line script that could be assigned to the run program option, but I don't have that knowledge. No there is no fast way to switch them. I phoned dell support and asked. For anyone like me who didn't know how to switch from function to multimedia keys here is how. Step 1 restart your computer and tap F2 as it is booting up.
